MIA Moment

At my church, the Sunday School children have been learning about the fruit of the Spirit. This Sunday, the lesson will be on Love; appropriate enough for this weekend! Pondering over this lesson, I’ve realized that we are bombarded everyday, especially through the media, with the world’s idea of true love. As followers of Christ, we need to remind ourselves what true love really is. What better place is there to look than 1 Corinthians 13?

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Love will last forever.” (NLT)

May you be satisfied in Christ’s perfect love!

MIA Moment

Our MIA Moment contribution for this week:

"Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!" Ps 27:14

Lord, I choose to wait on You instead of just waiting for things to happen. I refuse to run ahead of Your perfect will for my life. At the same time, I don't want to lag behind it either because of steps I have neglegted to take. Show me where I have not been diligent to do things You want me to do. I commit in trusting Your Word and delighting myself in You. I rest in You this day and wait patiently for You to bring to pass all that needs to happen in my life. Bless me with patience in the process. Amen

About Moms in Action (MIA)

“Moms In Action” is a ministry of love & service to the King's School's family in Christ. It consists of a group of mommies who wish to serve their children & school in the areas of prayer & support. This ministry offers each of us an opportunity to serve and work as unto the Lord and as a group of moms we contribute towards making the King's School a great place for our children to be.
"Whatever you do work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men." - Col 3:23

MIA is involved in a couple of areas which include:

1. Caring With Meals
As part the MIA ministry we have a Caring with Meals ministry to assist families who are going through a crisis for example where a family member is very ill or in hospital. These moms serve through cooking & delivering meals for a period of time to families in crisis e.g. where a family member is very ill or in hospital, in order to take some strain off the family so they can focus on the crisis at hand.
“Give and it will be given to you… with the measure you use it will be measured to you”
– Luke 6:38

2. Class Mom / Assistant Class Mom
These moms serve as coordinators between MIA & the teachers. They assist the teachers with prayer & messages for pupils & families in need of ministry.
Becoming a Class Mom or Assistant Class Mom is a service to your child & its teacher. The Class Mom’s role at the school is to make our learners and teachers feel special by acknowledging their birthdays. We show love to the learners and parents in our class by being aware of any problems they might be having. When there is a crisis in the family, the class mom will notify the Caring with Meals coordinator to arrange meals. They also serve as a contact person between the teacher and parents for upcoming functions and events where the school requires assistance from our parents.
“Carry each other’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ”
– Galatians 6:2

3. High School Contact Moms
These moms keep MIA informed of any needs in order that Caring with Meals can be arranged where necessary. They also serve as a contact person between the teachers and parents for upcoming functions and events where the school requires assistance from our parents.
24And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
– Hebrews 10:24-25

4. Monthly Prayer Meetings.
We assist your teacher with setting up prayer meetings and encouraging our parents to attend these prayer meetings.
“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”
- Phillipians 4:6-7

5. Functions/Events Arrangement & Setup
Assisting with functions/events that the school hosts. This includes setting up, clearing away and the occasional preparation of snacks/food.
“Let us not become weary of doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”
– Galatians 6:9
